Hi! My Name is Eric Van Oosten. I'm a Michigan native, but have had the opportunity to live in multiple states and cities while growing up. I also lived in Spain for two weeks my junior year of high school. These opportunities have given me the chance to experience many different working atmospheres and I attribute them as part of my success as an individual and IT professional. My education is something that I am very proud of and am eager to continue.
I currently hold a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration as well as a Bachelors of Art in Communications with an emphasis in graphic design and digital film (both video and still photography). I also have a certificate of completion in Enterprise Computing Systems. I was able to achieve these all while working full-time and in some parts of the timeline while working multiple jobs. I continue to further my knowledge and hone my skill sets by utilizing training and services provided in an MSDN membership, training available at Pluralsight, and maintain a subscription to both TechRepublic and Safari Books Online. Something I've recently been investigating are the massive, open, online courses that are provided by some big name colleges and universities. I am always keeping my eye out on their newsletters for an interesting course to participate in. I believe that my cumulative education helps me to be creative, think out-of-the-box, and approach problems from a different angle in order to make business processes better and the client or end users happier.
Some things that are important to me and which make up part of my core values are integrity and leadership. My family has a strong, military history with my father having served as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy and his father serving as a Chief Petty Officer in WWII. I've taken the lessons that my father has taught me as well as what I learned from his father's memoirs and stories of his naval career then apply them to many aspects of my life. Work included.
A few random facts about me:
